The Beginning

Well, this summer has been an eventful one. I have spent most of it on the road working and doing various trainings. On one of these trips I received an email. This email contained information that would provide the opportunity of a lifetime. A short time later, I received another email with equally gratifying news.

The first contained the opportunity to travel. I would have the great chance of going to live in a country where I am proud to say contains ancestral ties. How close those ties are I am not sure, but a branch of my tree does go back there. Back in January I had applied for an internship where I could go to Spain and teach English. This email was my acceptance to the internship.

The second email contained a possible future job opportunity. I was supposed to attend my last semester of school and accomplish my student teaching. The email I received was concerning my placement. I was placed at the same high school I coached ballroom at for the past year. It was an exciting chance to pursue a future in a career filed I would love and enjoy for the rest of my working days.

I had a week to decide which one I was going choose. Obviously, I choose to go to Spain. It was not something I decided quickly, in fact I spent most of the week going over the two options and their possible outcomes. In the end I concluded that I could leave behind this opportunity to go visit a country with a rich history and that has payed such a vital role in shaping the modern world (if you don't know what that is, you should do some research).

Since that decision, I have had a most intriguing experience since that decision. First off I have to be able to receive credits while I am gone or I will loose my enrollment and have to reapply to finish my degree. I have sent off various emails to a number of professors so that I can receive the credits I am seeking. It seems that while I have been working all summer, these professors have been on vacation. No responses to my requests for help.

Also, I have to receive special permission from my job so that I can go to Spain, and that in and off itself is like pulling teeth. Again, many emails sent, no effective responses.

And the last thing, I have to apply for a visa to be able to go over there and work. Along with that, I also signed up for a cruise. I need my passport for both. Not to mention all the paperwork I have to fill out and send in for this whole ordeal. It has been a lot, and I have a little more than a month to get everything together.

More to come as things happen.
